Alexander Haus @Camp Driftwood-Stay on River!

Our hearts are broken. Our beloved camp was demolished by Hurricane Helene 2024 from the "1 in 1000 Year Flood" in Western North Carolina.

Devastation to Camp Driftwood has left us with almost a total loss, except for 1 property standing, but severely damaged. (See before and after pics below.)

We are needing to clean up, rebuild, and reclaim this special destination so that it's stunning riverbanks can be enjoyed by our friends and family for years to come. As you can imagine, our rebuild requires funding for materials, labor, and large equipment.

Alexander Haus is a beautifully restored 1910 house. The fully remodeled kitchen has a dining table for six, an island breakfast bar, dishwasher, and river views. With two cozy bedrooms and a modern bathroom on the lower level, it comfortably sleeps four. Enjoy the large second-story covered porch for dining and lounging, with stairs leading to the lower patio, river access, and an outdoor shower. Renovated in 2021, it features original wood floors and preserved wainscoting. The backyard picnic table and fire ring make Alexander Haus the perfect riverside getaway.

The 2nd floor apartment has another queen bed w/ nice linens make for good sleeping after creating a masterpiece dinner in the 2nd full kitchen. Sprawling back yard, river access & outdoor shower, and a private porch provides outdoor dining and river views!

We provide detailed directions and check in information for you to check yourself in, as well as a phone number should you really need to get ahold of us emergency style.

Alexander Haus is part of a tiny campground, squished on a little strip of land between The French Broad River and Old Marshall Highway! Guests at Alex Haus have access to the whole camp, which spans about 1/3 of a mile of river frontage. Feel free to stroll the length of the grounds and enjoy the Community Firepit, Swimming Beach, and Fishing Beach. Big fun-walk or have some one drive you up to the top end of camp and tube/float/boat back down to Alex Haus!!

The grounds right around Alex Haus are really only used by guests of the home, but you may see folks exiting the river with their tubes:)

Rates & Availability

Cancellation Policy: One hundred percent (100.00%) of the total booking charges (less $35.00 cancellation fee) will be refunded if the cancellation is made more than 14 days prior to the arrival date of the reservation. For cancellations made within 14 days prior to the arrival date, no refund will be issued.
